Let’s make this site different from all the other drum sites out there. We all know that you have to tune a drum to get the proper sound. Everyone can speak his or her opinion as far as which drumhead that is considered better or best, or how one particular brand stands head and shoulders above a another brand. However when you take into consideration such things as cymbals, pedals, or perhaps the drums itself, it is important to remember to think outside of the box and the reason is that it simply does not matter which brand of drum kit you have. I myself have found quality brands at yard sales and in some instances trash cans….yes believe it or not some people do throw away good quality stuff from time to time and I always say one person’s trash can immediately become another one’s treasure. The point here is that with the proper time and investment of the blood, sweat, and tears kind, you too could have an awesome sounding drum kit.
For this site we can go into different kits and cymbals just like the vast majority of drum related sites out there, but if we do that then we need to ask you the obvious question which is why bother finding or checking out another site? You could just stick with the same site that been feeding you knowledge already. With this site however, we want to do much more than just supply you with knowledge, we are going to take the mad scientist approach. What I mean is that we are going to experiment, dissect, and in essence find out those little secrets that give so many other drummers their unique but elusive sounds. For example how does Alex Van Halen get his snare to sound like that? Or how does Tommy Lee get that deep bass drum to feel as though it is knocking your chest out of place. We will dissect to examine the possible techniques used to create that sound. We can discuss modules, triggers, microphones, sub kicks, cables, beaters, sticks, paint designs for your kit, the whole nine yards…Secrets of the trade!!!
It does not matter if you are beginner who is wants to learn how to play drums or the season veteran who has beat these same drums for years. This site is designed for those who have the passion to go to the next level. If you are one who likes to use and implement electronics to achieve your preferred sound then great, we can discuss it by sharing that information thus providing a valuable learning experience. Someone may want tips or tricks on how to build an electronic drum set for under a $150 bucks…not bad if I do say so myself. Have you seen those prices?
We can show you how to get knee deep in wires and you just might find yourself slinging wires from one shoulder to the next. If ideas are what you are looking for we can help you get the creative juices flowing so that you can build it however you see fit because there really is no wrong way to do this. It does not matter if your approach to creating your rack is old school or new school. You could be someone who likes the big, crazy racks that curve and soar for days or the straight up kits with every bang for your buck, this site has you covered.
Some of you may be like I was sick and tired of spending your hard earned baby diaper money when you just need a sparkle of imagination. We are prepared to make our own microphones, make our own drums because we are going to challenge the system and stand up to the so-called experts who say the drums should be this way or that way. I saw a guy beating buckets on a street corner making his own unique sound. Some drum experts might say that that is dated and primitive or even wrong. I prefer to say that this is the first ever communication of music…it is the drums!!!
