The fourth of July, Independence day celebration– is time for visiting our National and local parks, having fun on America’s plentiful, beautiful beaches, grilling barbecue and lighting up the night sky with fire crackers . Let us reflect on the sacrifices of our forefathers when we see old glory–flying in the breeze.
Think about our first President, General George Washington’s troops crossing the Delaware River in the freezing snow without shoes. In spite of their circumstances, He and his Men fought on for us, for our nation. Let us think about President Abraham Lincoln– having to make the grave decision to wage the civil war to preserve the Union of the United States, and sign the Proclamation of emancipation and free the slaves. Think about the soldiers lost in battle in both the Northern and Southern Armies. Think about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leading the civil rights struggle–and all the suffering his foot soldiers endured for our civil rights. Think about our American troops, still on battle fields around the world to protect freedom and defend our way of life.
In one era or span of time, God may send one Angel, or even two. As America evolved, struggled and developed, God sent us three Angels in a span of 200 years. May God Bless America–from the Highest Mountain and from Sea to Shining Sea.
